The ISEE Western Canada Chapter is pleased to offer two scholarships, which are awarded on a yearly basis. The Society of Explosive Engineers Education Foundation also has scholarships available to students in the drilling and blasting industry.

Dick Shaw

Dick Shaw was a well-respected inspector for Worksafe BC, who was a tireless advocate for blasting safety. The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time post-secondary student in Canada who's study relates to explosives or blasting. For example, mining, civil or chemical engineering, geology, seismic exploration, avalanche control or blasting physics.

Pat McLaughlin was heavily involved in all aspects of the blasting industry since 1973 and provided his vast expertise in both the mining and construction trades throughout North and South America, until his passing in 2010. This scholarship will be awarded to any full-time post secondary student who is a direct relative of a member-in-good-standing of our chapter. Studies may be in any field.

The Society of Explosives Engineers (SEE) Education Foundation has multiple scholarships available to students pursuing post-secondary education related to the explosive industry. Students will be assessed on academic and professional achievements, industry goals, a personal challenges narrative and a brief statement of financial need. Each year, approximately $90,000 USD is made available for scholarships.
