About Us

The Western Canada Chapter of the International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE) is a non-profit organization that represents the blasting industry in Western Canada. 

Our chapter was formed in 1991 from the amalgamation of the Pacific Canada and Canadian Rockies Chapters.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide education, training and support through scholarships and grants to blasters and to enhance the safety, science and skill of explosives engineering and certified blasters.

 

The Chapter developed and continuously updates a "Best Practices Guide for Close Proximity Blasting Operations".

Our Goals

  • Provide levels of blaster technical training through the provision of the International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE) Certificate Training programs.

  • Host Canada's leading annual blasting seminar and trade show that showcases the latest in blasting technology, while providing an opportunity for blasting professionals to meet socially and enjoy comradeship.

  • To promote membership and participation in the ISEE and the Society of Explosive Engineers Education Foundation.

  • Develop and regularly update a "Best Practices Guide for Close Proximity Blasting Operations".

  • To promote standardization of terminology, methods and regulations in explosives industry. 

  • To provide forums through which experiences with the principles and techniques of explosive engineering may be reported, discussed and published in the furtherance of the general benefit. 

  • To engage with other local chapters of national organizations and Municipal, Provincial and Federal government agencies having common or related objectives in furthering the knowledge of safe transportation, storage and use of explosives.

  • Provide support to any post secondary group with an interest in the blasting industry to create a student chapter of the ISEE, thus encouraging young workers to consider a career in the industry .

  • Provide scholarships to support students interested in following a career in the drilling and blasting industry.
